International GSA sportswoman hangs up her boots to share expertise

Senior England lacrosse captain Katy Bennett is to hang up her 52nd pair of boots, and her 14 year international career, in order to coach school age athletes.

Katy is currently director of Sport at GSA school Wycombe Abbey and was educated at St Catherine’s Bramley. She has four world championships, two world bronze medals and two European gold medals under her belt.

As well as continuing to work at Wycombe Abbey, Kate will lead the coaching for SixBySix Performance, sharing her international experience and expertise with even more school age athletes to help springboard them to the next level.

She has already had a taste of coaching in the SixBySix pilot course, during which she and the 2013 world cup lacrosse vice-captain, Lucy Lynch, worked with a number of girls. The pilot course also included workshops in sports psychology, core stability, proprioception and injury prevention.

The 2014 SixBySix lacrosse coaching programme will be announced in the near future.
