85% of all entries were awarded an A* or A, an increase on last year. These results come against backdrop of a decline in top grades nationally.
Girls were awarded the top grade in an impressive range of subjects with 92% of girls achieving an A* in further maths, 83% in German, 82% in Latin, 75% in music, 73% in French, 69% in Spanish, 63% in chemistry and 62% in English language.
1 in 6 girls achieved A* in all of their subjects, and 45% of St Swithun’s pupils were awarded all A* or A grades.
“I am delighted this year that the girls have excelled in so many areas.” said headmistress Jane Gandee. “Their embracing of academic challenge has resulted in a significant increase in A* grades giving them confidence as they move into the sixth form. We have also spent a lot of time laughing with them over the past two years and want to congratulate them on being so adept at keeping everything in perspective.”
