Heathfield Girls Celebrate Record A Level Results

Eight in ten girls at leading independent girls’ school Heathfield in Ascot achieved all A*-C grades in their A level exams this summer with half gaining all A*-B grades.

In a record year for the Berkshire school, over four in ten (42%) of the exams taken were also awarded the top A*-A grades with 91% of the exams taken scoring an A*-C grade.

All students (100%) achieved A*-B grades in English while 100% achieved A* in Further Mathematics, 86% were awarded A*-C in Mathematics and an outstanding100% of candidates recorded all A*-A grades in every single modern foreign language: French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

In the Sciences, in the year which saw the opening by Lord Robert Winston of the school’s state-of-the-art STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) facility, three-quarters of students gained all A grades in Chemistry and over two-thirds (67%) all A grades in Physics with a third achieving A* grades in Biology.

Two girls impressed with six A* grades and 2 A grades between them, with one confirming a place to read Medicine at Keble College, Oxford, and another to read Mathematics at University College, London.

Another student achieved a rare 100 per cent full marks in her Art and Design Photography A level, securing a place at Newcastle University in the process.

Other students have won places to universities including three to Edinburgh, two to read Philosophy and Theology and one to read History of Art, one to Warwick to read Biomedicine, one to Dundee to read Medicine and another to University College, London to read Psychology.

Over six in ten girls scored at least one A*-A grade in their exams (63%) while over two-fifths (46%) of the girls achieved at least two A*-A grades in their tally of A Levels.

An outstanding 75% of A Level exams taken at Heathfield were awarded A*-B grades.

Heathfield School Director of Studies Marina Gardiner Legge, who becomes Head of Heathfield in September, said:

‘These outstanding results which see our school’s A level performance improve year on year pay testament to the hard work of staff and students. I look forward to guiding Heathfield onwards as its academic performance continues to flourish.’
