This is another year of outstanding GCSE results for Woldingham School with 46% of the grades achieved at A* and 73% A*-A.
A third of our girls achieved straight A* and A grades, with special mention to Emma Boomaars, Charlotte Devine, Grace Flanagan (all from Tandridge), Tobi Ajayi, Victoria Wei, Kristy Fok, Elina Pampapathi and Isabelle Johnson who achieved at least ten A*s.
Some of our girls will be celebrating with their older sisters who received their A Level results last week. Charlotte Devine and Elina Pampapathi both achieved 10 A*s at GCSE and their sisters achieved A and A* grades at A Level. Kate Devine, from Tandridge, has a place at Bristol University and Shana Pampapathi will be studying Medicine at Nottingham University.
36% of Woldingham girls achieved seven or more A*s reflecting the breadth and depth of achievement in this year group. Head of Year, Rachel Whitton, said: ‘I am thrilled for our high achievers but just as proud of our girls who asked for help when needed: they have been rewarded with results that exceed their expectations.’
Following our STEM success at A Level this year we had our highest ever number of girls sitting GCSE triple award science and two thirds of these grades were A*. Take up for Science A Levels is encouragingly high, with half of this year group opting to take at least one STEM subject next year and one in five taking Physics, a notoriously male dominated subject.
Headmistress, Mrs Alex Hutchinson, said: ‘Our GCSE girls proved time and time again that they were a cohesive, dynamic and multi-talented group. They have worked hard, aimed high and supported one another: they are the embodiment of our strong sense of community. This year group have engaged with the full spectrum of opportunities available at Woldingham School – proving that academic endeavour is enhanced by sporting, musical, artistic and extra-curricular pursuits. I am delighted with their results and proud of the competent, purposeful young women that they are.’
