Double National Tennis Win

Double National Tennis Win

9 January 2017

Christmas came early for the two Talbot Heath school tennis teams who won the Team Tennis Schools Year 8 and 10 National Finals 2016 in December. The championships were recently held at Bolton, where convincing wins came from both teams, with the year 8 team winning 10-2 and the year 10 team winning 12-0, at a tournament for the top 16 schools in the country.

Talbot Heath’s teams have won three times in the last four years; an unprecedented achievement in the history of the national team tennis championships. The players represent GB from the age of 12 upwards and the school have national and double champions across a range of age groups. The Year 10 team members are Abbie Tyler, Romana Bari, Esther Adeshina, Erin Richardson, Jessica Holloway, and the Year 8 team are Mollie Edge, Hazel Vernon, Hannah Smith, Leah Gonzales-Edwards and Kristina Paskauskas. Talbot Heath is proud of the girls who are known for their skill, determination and sportsmanship on court and the school is delighted to remain the number one tennis school for girls in the UK; a title that has been held for four years running.

Thanks go to the fantastic coaching team at West Hants Club who oversee the tennis aspect of our academy programme and to Miss Lawrence and Mrs Camp who accompanied the teams over the weekend. Congratulations go to both teams.
