National Readathon Results

14 February 2017

Congratulations and thank you to all of the girls in Upper 3 who have recently participated in the National Readathon. Collectively they have read over 150 books and have raised a superb £157, for four children’s charities: Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, CLIC Sargent for Children with Cancer, Together for Short Lives and Readwell.

As always the English faculty likes to recognise individual achievements and give special acknowledgements to particular girls in the year group for their impressive fundraising and reading efforts. The literary merit award recognises individual achievement with reading. All prize winners receive a certificate and a book token for Waterstone’s. They are as follows:

Fundraising – Winner: Elizabeth Lyle / Runners–up: Olivia Bratt and Isabelle Dickinson;

Reading most books – Winner: Yu Lun Wu/ Runners-up: Eleanor Blakeway and Olivia Bratt;

Literary Merit – Winner: Yu Lun Wu/ Runner–up: Madeleine Barringer.

The overall total that the school has raised since starting Readathon in 2000 is now over £17,400! Well done and thank you to all of the girls who participated. Grateful thanks also go to the Upper 3 parents and English staff for their continued support with fundraising and promoting reading in school and at home.
