Award-winning broadcaster and writer Clare Balding visits Headington

5 June 2017

A packed audience of Headington girls were joined by pupils from local primaries for a visit from award-winning broadcaster and author Clare Balding.

Clare was there to talk about her book ‘The Racehorse Who Wouldn’t Gallop’ and also shared lots of stories about her career as a broadcaster and the amazing people she has had a chance to meet. Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils from Headington Prep along with U3 girls from the Senior School welcomed pupils from Windmill and St Andrew’s primary schools in Oxford to the event, which was filled with anecdotes and audience participation. After the talk children had a chance to meet Clare and get her to sign copies of her book.

Deputy Head Co-Curricular Simon Hawkes said: “Clare was fantastic with the children and had them enraptured from the moment she walked into the school hall. Alongside fascinating insights into the Olympians she has met and admires, she had wonderfully positive messages for the children about resilience and aspiration.”
