Headington Prep hosts maths challenge for local schools

21 July 2017

Pupils from around Oxfordshire gathered at Headington Prep School for the DC Beagle Year 5 Maths Challenge.

Teams from 22 state and independent schools from around the county, including Headington Prep, took part in the challenge, which involved a range of different maths activities.

Children were separated into pairs and had to move around the room completing different maths challenges, ranging from a domino jigsaw to tangram triangles to a broken calculator.

The results were collated and prizes given out and parents from the competing schools were invited to celebrate the successful teams.

The winning first teams were, in joint first place, Chandlings and St Aloysius. There was also a prize for the winning second team which was again jointly shared, this time by Chandlings and by Magdalen College School. Headington girls achieved second place in both categories.

Well done to all the young mathematicians taking part on the day.
