Wellbeing day at St Mary’s, Colchester!
The impact of mind health on physical health was emphasised to senior students at St Mary’s, Colchester throughout a whole day devoted to Wellbeing on 10 July.
Students aged 11 to 16 took part in yoga sessions, heard talks on healthy eating and learnt techniques including dance, crafts and making moodboards from visiting experts. Years 9 and 10 students focused on appearing confident in social and business situations.
“The school’s mantra is ‘happy girls are high achievers’, so our Wellbeing Day intended to explain to the student what that really means,” said St Mary’s Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Miss Jo Middleditch. “They tend not to realise the impact that their mental health has on their general wellbeing, and also that the term mental health is not a negative. Today helped the students to understand the five steps to good wellbeing – healthy practice, activity, positive thinking, positive emotions and connections.”
