CLC pupils celebrate top results

18 August 2017

Exceptional individual achievements for the CLC class of 2017 include four girls who have achieved 4 A* grades, including Gigi Dunn (Biomedical Sciences at Bristol), Amelia Rupp (Civil Engineering at Imperial College London), Ellie Dunford-Wood (Natural Sciences at Durham) and Giovanna Lau (Economics at LSE). Jemima Terry also secured 3 A* grades, in addition to a Level 7 in IB Standard Level French, and will study History of Art at Cambridge.

Taking into account excellent IB results last month, as well as Pre-U exam results also released on Thursday, CLC Sixth Form pupils have achieved almost a quarter (24%) of results at A* grade or equivalent (7 points at IB and Distinction 1/2 grades at Pre-U).

An outstanding 59% of results are A* and A grades or equivalent (7/6 points at IB and Distinction 1/2/3 grades at Pre-U), more than twice the national average for A Level grades.

CLC girls will be taking up places at Oxbridge and leading US universities, including Harvard, NYU, University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth.

Eve Jardine-Young, Principal of Cheltenham Ladies’ College, said: “We are extremely proud of all the girls and staff, whose hard work and inspiration has enabled such wonderful results across the A Level, IB and Pre-U examinations this year. It has also been pleasing to see how well our girls have responded to the new Linear A Level system of assessment, alongside their unreformed A Levels.”
