17 August 2017

CELEBRATIONS were the order of the day at Saint Martin’s School as A-level students marked yet another fantastic year of results.

Pupils and staff at the independent day school for girls in Brueton Avenue were jumping for joy as they celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate across 19 subjects.

Furthermore, an impressive 70 per cent of grades received were A*-B and eight per cent were A*.

The girls will be progressing to Higher Education institutions across the UK, studying a range of subjects including English Literature, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Technical Theatre, Modern Foreign Languages and Chiropractic studies.

This year’s highest achievers were Izzy Thomas, Rachel Cooban and Hannah Dormon (pictured).

Izzy received two A* and an A grade and is off to Exeter University to study History.

Rachel and Hannah both received one A* and two A grades.

Rachel is also heading to Exeter University to study Politics an International Relations, while Hannah will be studying History at Durham University.

Head Nicola Edgar praised the students and staff for another fantastic year of results at the school – ranked the best in the borough and 27th in the country for its 2016 GCSE results.

She said: “The fantastic achievements of the class of 2017 are testament to the hard work and dedication of the girls and the teachers who have helped them over the years.

“We have had some outstanding results and the progress the girls have made since they started with us has been excellent.”

“We are so very proud of every single one of them and wish them all the very best for the future – whatever it may hold for them.”

Carol McNidder, Chair of Governors added: “Our excellent results and the success of our girls in progressing to their chosen Higher Education courses and future careers confirm how well the staff know the girls.

“This is testament to the sound advice given by the Head of Sixth Form and her dedicated team of tutors.

“The knowledge and skills that the girls have acquired at Saint Martin’s will stand them in good stead for the next stage of their lives. We look forward to hearing of their continued success.
