Third consecutive year of exceptional GCSE Results for Cranford House School

Third consecutive year of exceptional GCSE Results for Cranford House School

24 August 2017

Headmaster Dr James Raymond commented, “These are an excellent collection of results that reflect the hard work, dedication and determination of our fabulous Year 11s. We are very proud of them and they richly deserve all of their success. This is a tremendous achievement, particularly for a non-selective school like ours which welcomes pupils of all abilities. I’m particularly pleased, in the context of the changes to the curriculum and grading in Mathematics and English, to see our value-added score showing yet again that pupils at Cranford House can expect to achieve 1.2 grades higher per subject than they would elsewhere.”

With almost 90% of all grades at A*/B for a second year in succession, the school was particularly pleased to enjoy continued strength in the core subjects where, for example, 77% of all grades in Triple Science were achieved at A*/A (98% A*/B) and our Mathematicians achieved 31% of all results at the new grade 8 or 9, representing a value-added score of +1.14 in Higher Tier Mathematics. Our strength in STEM was further in evidence across the Technology faculty where an average value-added score of +2 was reflected in an impressive 71% A*/A statistic.

In Modern Foreign Languages, pupils scored 98% A*/B, with a superb 68% of grades at A*/A and impressive valued-added score of +1.7 for all three languages. Similar success was enjoyed across Humanities, with a value-added score in excess of +1.4 (A*/A 67%) and, yet again Music excelled, achieving an impressive value-added score of over +1.5 (A*/A 71%).
