Highest GCSE results in recent years for The Royal School

Year 11 students at The Royal School in Haslemere are celebrating today, as despite the introduction of the harder GCSE examinations in Mathematics and English, the  percentage of passes at A*(including 9 and 8) was at 15.5% – its highest for 3 years.

Top performers included Lizzie who achieved A*-A grades (including 9 and 8) in all her 10 subjects plus an A grade in the Free Standing Maths Qualification; Anna, who achieved 10 A* -A (including 9 and 7) plus an A* in A Level French and Charlie who achieved A*-A grades (including 9 and 8) in all her 10 subjects.

Results in Modern Languages and Music were outstanding with 100% of candidates awarded A*-A. Languages studied included French, German, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Drama results were also very strong with all candidates achieving A*-B.

There was a 100% A*-C  pass rate in Art, Drama, French, German, Music, Photography, Additional Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and a 100% 9-4 pass rate in English.

Anne Lynch, Principal, said: ‘We are delighted with these results and very pleased for our students. They and their teachers have worked very hard and it is excellent to see them rise to the challenge of the new GCSE examinations and achieve some very strong scores. It is also excellent to see them perform admirably in so many subjects across the curriculum. Well done to one and all!’
