Dads4Daughters Event Aims to Tackle Gender Equality in the Workplace

3 October 2017

A group of 50 dads and significant male others joined girls at The Kingsley School on Thursday 28th September for a discussion on gender equality in the workplace.

The discussion was arranged as part of Dads4Daughters, a national initiative inspired by the UN’s #HeforShe campaign, which is about the idea that pursuing gender equality should not simply be a female preserve.

The girls and dads worked in groups to discuss and present how best to achieve a greater equality of opportunity in the workplace, and also to recognise the role and importance of modern fathers, encouraging girls to follow passions, be adaptable and avoid stereotyping.

Following the event, the dads suggested a few ways that they could help implement the discussion points at work and at home, agreeing to help the school with writing a charter.
