Swimmers from Monmouth School Girls’ Prep created a big splash in the national finals at London Aquatics Centre.

The Monmouth girls enjoyed racing in the Olympic Pool and brought home five medals from the prestigious Independent Schools Association’s National Swimming Finals.

Isobel Jones, 10, was the most successful Monmouth swimmer, winning two bronze medals in Sunday’s showpiece event.

Isobel secured a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly and joined with Daisy Phillips, 10, in winning a bronze in the 4x50m individual medley relay.

Sophie Williams, 9, and Verity Ainsworth, 8, also shone at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park venue, winning a bronze medal each in the 4x50m freestyle relay.

The whole day was a fantastic experience for the Monmouth girls with Ailsa Whitehead, Bella Hull, Lola Williams and Jessica Stentiford also representing the school with distinction.

Sophie said: “It was an amazing because we knew the pool had been the venue for the London 2012 Olympics and it was incredible to follow in the footsteps of Olympic swimmers.”
