The Mount Junior Celebrates 100% LAMDA Distinctions

The Mount Junior Celebrates 100% LAMDA Distinctions

1 May 2018

Congratulations to our Speech and Drama pupils in Junior School, Year 7 and Year 9 for achieving 100% Distinctions in their annual LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) exams.

Even though The Mount is not a specialist performing arts school, pupils in the Junior and Senior School achieve 100% Distinctions with steady consistency.

Speech and Drama teacher, Rachel Lavell, said, “I am so proud of the pupils, particularly those in the Junior School who worked really hard all year on their pieces.  This wonderful result chimes with the amount of effort they put in and I am sure their families are proud of them too.”

Rachel Capper, Head of The Mount Junior School, said, “We have a very unique environment here at The Mount Junior School, where our Quaker ethos fosters the pupils’ self-belief and sensitivity to others. While our school community is known for its tolerance and diversity, this also means that our pupils know their voice is valued and that they can make a difference.  When young people have that level of unassuming confidence, their creativity knows no limits.  I am very proud of the children’s achievement; 100% Distinctions in LAMDA results is truly outstanding. Congratulations also go to Mrs Lavell, who seems to repeat this incredible stunt every year.”

The Junior School is currently working on their next production, “It’s Time!” which they will perform on Friday 18th of March at 6.30pm.
