Burgess Hill Girls celebrate the start of National Boarding Week

22 June 2018

Burgess Hill Girls in Sussex has launched a week of events to celebrate National Boarding Week (18-24 June).

The Boarding Schools’ Association-inspired event kicked off with a Boarding Bop and sleepover on Saturday 16th. Students were encouraged to bring a friend from school to dance the night away. This was followed by a sleepover. The common room was turned into a large dormitory for one night only

On Monday, boarders performed a song of their choice for the magnificent prize of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

With hardly a moment to draw breath, the following day saw the Big Boarding Run, in which girls aim to run the length of the UK. It was sighs of relief all round when they found out that the run was from the comfort of the school’s fitness suite. The fun was in aid of children’s charity Barnados.

And today [Wednesday] it’s the Burgess Hill Girls contribution to the #iloveboarding social media campaign. Burgess Hill Girls boarding students display their thoughts on why they love boarding on walls and notice boards across the school.

And for girls who would like to try out boarding at Burgess Hill Girls, the school has seven beds available from the July 2nd. Girls aged 11 or above can join in the fun with the boarding community; activities range from cooking and crafting to multi-sports and film nights. They will also enjoy a delicious evening meal and breakfast. And it’s all free!
