Headington Prep girls swim their way to victory

18 June 2018

Headington Prep swimmers came home laden with medals  – along with a few new records at the National IAPS swimming finals

With an initial entry from over 250 schools, the girls had performed well to achieve a place in the finals on Saturday 9th June. The Under 11 team of Pearl, Tilly, Juliet and Venetia put on a fantastic performance to win the age group cup for the highest-scoring team. They did this by winning gold in the medley relay and silver in the freestyle – a great team effort from all swimmers! Pearl also broke the 25m backcrawl record during the medley relay in an impressive time of 15.92 seconds.

In the individual races, Pearl set a new backcrawl record in a time of 33.95 and gained a bronze medal in the final. The Under 10 girl squad of Chloe, Jess, Libby, Teresa and Ellie started strongly, placing sixth in the medley relay and tenth in the freestyle relay, improving their times by at least five seconds. Thank you also to Neretva who came along to support her team mates and act as reserve for the day.
