Cobham Hall Girl Selected for Team GB during GCSEs

Cobham Hall Girl Selected for Team GB during GCSEs

13 July 2018

Cobham Hall’s Sports Day is always a celebration of sporting achievement, but had the School had an extra special reason to celebrate this year.  Year 11 pupil Lilly, a triathlete, recently competed at events in Nottingham and Thorpe Park – during her GCSE Examinations.  She said, “The events were a great distraction and the perfect way for me to relax during my GCSEs!”

After a fantastic performance in Nottingham, Lilly was selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Glasgow in 2018, and followed this with a second place finish in Thorpe Park; the first of the qualifiers for 2019 – earning her qualification for 2019 as well.  The School’s Sports Day at the end of June saw her presented with Team GB Kit by Head of PE Mrs Kelli Hooper. “I’m so thrilled for Lilly,” she enthused. “She’s worked so hard, and recent performances have shown she’s going from strength to strength. I can’t wait to watch her compete in Glasgow!”

The selection builds on Lilly’s success in 2016, when she was presented at School with the Triathlon South East Youth Championship by Cobham Hall Elder, Olympic Modern Pentathlete Kate French. Perhaps we have our next budding Olympian.
