Team GB Olympic hockey medallist Sally Walton inspires during coaching session

30 July 2018

IT’S NOT every day you get to enjoy a coaching session run by an Olympic medallist.

But that’s just what the girls from Saint Martin’s School had the pleasure of when Solihull’s very own star of the London 2012 Summer Olympics dropped by, hockey stick and Olympic medal in hand.

Sally was a star part of Team GB’s bronze medal-winning team, scoring against Japan in the group stages to help the team through to an eventual third-place finish.

And the girls at the Brueton Avenue school were delighted to take part in her coaching and Q&A session.

“We were all so excited to welcome Sally at Saint Martin’s for what was a fantastic coaching session,” said Tracy Gallagher from the PE department.

“Listening to her stories about London 2012 and seeing her Olympic Bronze Medal was a real inspiration for us all.

“Hopefully her visit will inspire our girls to emulate her success both on and off the field.”
