Bruton School for Girls is celebrating another set of excellent A Level results, and continues to build on its reputation for high academic standards.
Particularly outstanding results were achieved by:
Alice Tindal, our Head Girl from Wincanton, Somerset and Deputy Head Girl, Genevieve Baker, from Gillingham, Dorset both achieved three A*s in Maths, Physics and Music. Alice has a place at Birmingham University to study Business Management and Genevieve will be taking up a place at Bristol University to study Physics after a gap year working in industry.
Poppy Gotto from Queen Camel, Somerset achieved three A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and will be reading Medicine at Sheffield University.
Emily Forrester, Deputy Head Girl, from North Wootton, Somerset gained two As and a B in Biology, Geography and Chemistry and will be studying Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Nicky Botterill, Headmistress, said: “In this first year of fully reformed, more demanding, A levels our girls rose to the challenge and I am delighted with their results. Contrary to recent press coverage about unconditional university offers potentially lowering grades, our girls have bucked this trend; Alice Tindal had an unconditional offer at her chosen university and achieved three A* grades. As a non-selective school, we are proud of all our girls’ achievements and there are many more individual successes to celebrate. Our excellent teaching staff support and encourage each girl to reach her full potential and these results demonstrate the success of our approach”.
A level results in detail:
15% of all grades were A* almost double the national average of 8%.
33% of candidates gained AAB or higher, where two of those grades were the ‘harder’ facilitating subjects
44% of girls achieved at least one A grade
