Super King Twins score 10A*s at LEH

16 August 2018

They rowed for England at the Home International Regatta in July this year, where they won the Junior Women’s Pairs title. They somehow also both found time to excel as musicians, achieving Diploma standard on the trumpet, trombone and piano.

Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton is once again celebrating an excellent set of A level results, with 95 % of its students scoring A* -B and achieving their places at their first choice university in the UK and US.

Heather Hanbury, Head Mistress stated, “We are so proud of our girls. They have worked incredibly hard to achieve these fantastic results. Once again, the girls have excelled themselves. We congratulate all our students and wish them well as they take up their places at university, or begin their gap year. Many of them combined these wonderful A level results with outstanding achievements in sport, music and drama. I would like to thank LEH staff for their unstinting support for the girls, preparing them so well for these exams. And congratulations should also go to parents and carers whose role in these successes should not be forgotten.”

Students who are interested in applying to join LEH Sixth Form in September 2019 are welcome to come to our 6th Form Open Evening on Thursday 20 September 2018. Details of this, and of 11+ Open Mornings in September and October are available on the LEH website, www.lehs.org.uk

There were several outstanding success stories:

U20 European Lacrosse Champions pocket top A level scores
Four LEH girls who played for England in the gold medal winning U19 team have scored top marks in their A levels. The team comprised of Olivia D’Castro, Amy Grant-Moreland, Cecily (Cece) Green and Captain Hannah Thurston, who has won a full scholarship to Duke University, USA. All four girls are into their first choice universities. The fifth member of the winning team was Anna Saunter, who takes her A levels next year.

Teenage vampire star drinks in her success
Anastasia Martin, who studies at Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, managed to bag top scores in her Drama, Music and English A levels whilst filming a new teenage vampire TV series.

Ana took her A levels in Split, Croatia, as the intense filming schedule required her to leave school in May. She was pulled out of the sea, where she was filming an underwater scene, literally 20 minutes before her first English exam. And after her exam she went straight back to filming the scene underwater, to complete what must have been an exhausting and crazy day!

Ana said; “Other than that, the main challenges were just that I had a very busy schedule, on set on most days at around 9am and getting off set at about 10pm, giving me little time to revise and also having to shoot for half days before and after taking exams which was tiring but also a lot of fun!”

The series, meant for viewers aged ten years and older, is about the children of the last remaining vampire clans who make a pact to survive. Because vampires are threatened with extinction, the last seven vampire families choose to train their children together so that they can combine the special and unique powers of each family. Ana plays the role of Alisa – a young vampire girl with a human heart who has been chosen to connect all beings, but this responsibility is great and she is put to the test. Shooting of the English-language series will last till February 2019 and take place in Croatia, Latvia and Norway. Two seasons of each 13 episodes are being recorded.
