Excellent results at Advanced Higher were demonstrated by the pass rate of 96% (A-C grade) and with 90% of grades awarded at A or B grade.
The school attained a wonderful 95% pass rate (A-C grade) at Higher level for S5 pupils with 88% achieving A or B grade and pupils in fourth year have equally impressed with a 98% pass rate at National 5, with 90% of candidates achieving at A or B level.
“We are very proud of the achievements of our girls and extend particularly warm wishes to our sixth year leavers who are now taking up places at an impressive range of universities to study subjects as diverse as drama, medicine, law, dentistry, history & politics, veterinary medicine and art, to name just a few. A significant proportion of leavers will be taking up places at the prestigious Russell Group of universities including Cambridge, Edinburgh and Exeter.
This year’s stunning results at all levels are testament to our pupils’ hard work, motivation and commitment, and, of course, to the dedication and skill of our teaching staff. The strength of our results and the diversity of destinations of leavers reflect the school’s commitment to knowing each girl well and to nurturing her individual talents and interests.
While supporting each girl to be the best she can be academically is at the heart of a St Margaret’s education, we are committed to providing a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities to enhance and develop our girls’ interests and skills. Indeed, 17 of the girls who have received their examination results today recently returned from a three week expedition to Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe where they have participated in charity work as well as challenging outdoor endeavours. Two of our fifth year pupils have benefited from a four week exchange to our partner school, St Margaret’s Berwick, during the summer holiday. Furthermore, just last week, in partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Chevron, St Margaret’s facilitated a three day residential ‘Women in Engineering’ conference for girls from across the UK.
When our existing pupils and many new girls return to school on 23rd August, we shall certainly have a lot to celebrate in all spheres of school life, and we look forward to working with every member of the St Margaret’s family to make the forthcoming academic session one of our most successful yet.”
