Youth Sports Trust – My Personal Best course

Bedford Girls’ School, 11 December 2018

  • This award-winning support package (DfE Character Awards 2016 — regional winner) is designed to inspire secondary PE teachers to confidently teach life skills explicitly in, and through, core curriculum PE.
  • Bedford Girls School will be hosting the first course for GSA members on 11 December, for a minimum of 10 members of staff. It is hoped that one of these schools will then host a networking table at the GSA Directors of Sport Conference in June 2019.
  • Each teacher will take an action-research style approach to reposition the purpose and relevance of PE and share effective practice to adopting this approach with colleagues in their own school. My Personal Best is deliberately focused upon curriculum PE and is approached in such a way that teaching and learning, assessment processes and whole school priorities to be enhanced by planning for, recognising and engaging young people in this way. Through a clearly communicated life skills approach to teaching secondary PE, each young person will thrive and achieve their personal best in physical education, in school, in work, as a citizen and in their personal life.
