Great British Bake-Off Judge was the Icing on the Cake for Moreton Hall Students

4 December 2018

Prue Leith, Great British Bake Off judge and founder of the cookery school, shared her life-long passion for food and a ‘behind- the scenes’ insight into the popular, UK’s Amateur Baker TV programme.

Sixth Form student Buffy Boroughs said, “It was amazing to have the opportunity to listen to and meet such a strong figure in the cannon of female cooks who have changed the way we think about and prepare food.

“Prue enthralled the entire audience, she told us many stories about her culinary career: from changing people’s dismissive attitudes towards ‘catering’ with the Leith’s Cookery Bible, to her love of cooking with left-overs and keeping food simple yet delicious.

“Her new book, ‘My All Time Favourite Recipes’ is full of recipes that Prue created to be accessible to everyone. We left feeling inspired and warmed by her bubbly charisma and bold, colourful clothes. I cannot wait to cook my way through her recipes over the Christmas Holidays.”

Moreton Hall is one of a limited number of approved centres across the UK to deliver the professional Leiths Certificate in Food and Wine course which challenges practical cookery lessons and runs alongside students’ A Level choices, equipping individuals with a life-long skill and supporting their university applications.
