NATIONAL SHORT STORY COMPETITION SUCCESS

A Year 7 pupil at The Royal School has been celebrating winning a prize in a national Short Story Writing competition, entitled An Urgent Message. Phoebe was recently awarded 3rd prize in her category (age 7 to 11 school entries) of the competition.

The competition celebrated the 271 mile ride of Lieutenant Lapenotière, bringing the news of the Battle of Trafalgar from Falmouth to London in 1805. Phoebe’s story was selected from almost two hundred entries in that category, a tremendous achievement. Her story will be published in the book of winning entries, called An Urgent Message, in 2019.

Mrs Anne Lynch, Principal, said, “Congratulations to Phoebe and many thanks to Mrs Linda Gilbert, Head of English, for encouraging her to take part.“
