Celebrity TV Chef, James Tanner visits Lady Eleanor Holles School

4 February 2019

James talked to 6th Form students about cooking healthy, tasty food on a budget and GCSE Food Technology students were given a master class in filleting fish.

James was interviewed by some of the students, who quizzed him on how he decided to become a chef, what was his favourite meal to cook for himself and who was the most famous person he’d cooked for (ex US Presidents and PMs and Arnold Schwarzenegger!)

James’ career began at an early age, and whilst training at West Kent college in Tonbridge, he had his first taste of the catering industry as he worked at several renowned Kentish restaurants. Later, continuing his journey in Jersey with his brother Chris, it wasn’t long before Upstate New York beckoned, with James taking a position with the Roux brothers at the renowned Lake Placid Lodge. Upon his return to the UK, he headed to the 2 Michelin – starred restaurant Lettonie in Bath with Martin Blunos where he worked his way up the ranks before eventually opening his first restaurant with Chris in 1999.
