Dr Gifford Ignites Curiosities for British Science Week at The Kingsley School

18 March 2019

The pupils chose their own topics which covered a diverse range of subjects, from the effects of different materials on eggs, to the Solar System, to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

The School were delighted to welcome Dr Miriam Gifford, Associate Professor at the University of Warwick as guest of honour, who inspired girls, talking passionately about her career and work in biology and life sciences. Along with Year 7 parents, Dr Gifford also visited Kingsley’s brand new science laboratories, officially declaring them open with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Head of Chemistry, Mrs Satinder Bains, said, “Our first science fair was a great success, it was brilliant to see the Year 7s so engaged with parents and other students in discussing their findings. Dr Gifford was a superb ambassador for science, telling of how her school days inspired her to pursue a career, and encouraging the pupils to continue to ignite their curiosities through a love of the subject.”
