Woldingham’s Charlotte Wins Mini London Marathon for Second Time

30 April 2019

Woldingham School student Charlotte Alexander won the U17 Girls Virgin Money Giving Money Mini London Marathon on Sunday – two years after winning it in the U15 category.

The Mini London Marathon is run from London’s Old Billingsgate to The Mall – the last three miles of the full marathon course. Previous winners include four-time Olympic Games gold medallist Mo Farah. The event also doubles up as the British Athletics Three-mile Road Running Championships.

Charlotte, who has represented Team GB on several occasions, most recently in the U20 World Cross Country Championships in Denmark last month, commented:

“I’m aiming for the European Under 20s and I want to keep competing as much as I can. I’m from a competitive swimming background but since I started running I’ve never looked back.”

Woldingham School’s Director of Sport, Mrs Caroline Treacy, commented:

“Charlotte is a fantastically focused athlete and we are very proud of her achievement at the London Mini Marathon. Charlotte’s development over the last few years has been exceptional and it has been a delight to see her progress.”
