3 May 2019

On Thursday 2nd May, six members of St Mary’s Young Enterprise company, ‘Bella Gaia’, represented the school at the Wiltshire County Final, held at the Wiltshire Hotel in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Year 12 girls Amena, Rose H., Elisabeth, Ella, Rose M. and Isabella set up an attractive trade stand, confidently answered questions from a wide range of judges and gave an engaging presentation telling the story of their company so far. Bella Gaia have created a range of sustainable gift sets including ‘healthy herbs and surprise succulents’. Their mission is to ‘help the world breathe a little bit better with every pot.’

The judges were particularly impressed by their enthusiasm, passion and professionalism. The girls received lots of positive feedback about the quality of their marketing, the strength of their brand and the manner in which they conducted themselves.

The girls were sparky and enthusiastic when answering the judges’ questions and showed great professionalism during their engaging presentation. They won the award for Best Finances and the overall trophy for the Best Company in Wiltshire. Praise must also go to Rose H. who won an award for her ‘Outstanding Individual’ contribution as Managing Director of the team.

It has been an exciting journey for the girls throughout the year and they have developed a whole host of skills that will be invaluable in their careers. Having been crowned the best Young Enterprise Company in Wiltshire, they are now looking forward to representing St Mary’s Calne at the South West Regional Final in Bristol this month.
