The GSA welcomes the announcement by schools minister Lord Agnew that a new fund is to be established to enable state schools, independent schools and universities to bid for up £20,000 to assist them in building partnerships.
Responding to the news, GSA chief executive, Vivienne Durham, said:
“It is excellent news that funding is being made available to support the development of cross-sector school partnerships.
“We know from experience that working together in partnership can provide valuable educational experiences for children and teachers, helping to improve teaching and learning as well as providing new perspectives for all those involved. The independent schools within the GSA’s membership already take part in a wide range of partnerships – academic, sports, drama, music, teacher training and others – and they are committed to enhancing and developing them so that even more pupils can benefit.”
