A group of 31 pupils from Year 6 at Sandroyd School in Wiltshire enjoyed an ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ themed workshop at Bruton School for Girls on 14th June.

To explore Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, the visiting students enjoyed a drama workshop about the changeling boy, whose presence in the woods causes arguments in the fairy world, and they created their own nature spells and charms to take home.

Mrs Kate Life, Head of English at Bruton School for Girls explained: “The Sandroyd pupils have been studying ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and I hope the workshop helped them to see the way in which Shakespeare’s understanding of the magic of midsummer is woven into the play. We all had fun exploring the fantasy elements of the play; if only we’d had sun rather than midsummer rain as a backdrop to the day!”
