Truro High engineers embody the “Spirit of Greenpower” at latest race day

Truro High School’s Senior School Greenpower racers are celebrating having returned from their latest race days at Goodwood and Predannack Airfield with another trophy to add to their growing collection.

The girls were thrilled to once again be awarded the “Spirit of Greenpower” trophy at the heat held at Predannack Airfield. The award recognises the crew which shows the greatest teamwork, resilience and calm in the face of adversity – qualities that the organisation believes every racing driver and pit crew should embody.

Head of STEM, Mr Jon Dean said that the girls were, as always, a huge credit to the school and their enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to give it a go shone throughout the day.

The team’s next race will now take place in September when the season resumes after its summer hiatus so plans are already in motion to get back in the workshop as they rev up for another successful day at the race track.

It has been a landmark year for engineering at Truro High School. Following the launch of its bespoke programme for aspiring engineers last September, this spring the school received the news that it has become the first in the country to be recognised as an official motorsports club by Motorsport UK.

A first in UK automotive history, this enables the school’s students to be involved in high-profile events hosted by the organisation and even go all the way to operating trackside at international Formula 1 events.
