Bruton School for Girls is once again celebrating the success of their Upper Sixth leavers with excellent A Level results.

Nearly 20% of girls received straight A*/A grades, and 40% of all grades were awarded an A or above, while nearly 85% of grades were C or above. On the back of recent coverage regarding the decline of English Literature A Level, BSG bucked the trend with nearly 25% of the cohort taking the subject and every grade awarded an A* or A.

Of particular note were:

Karris H, from Pilton, who received an amazing 5 unconditional offers and achieved 3 straight A*s in English Literature, Drama and Photography. She is off to Bristol Old Vic to study Production Arts.

Millie W, from Frome, who achieved 3 straight As in Biology, French and Latin is off to Warwick to study Psychology and Linguistics.

Joanna U who achieved an outstanding 2 A*s in Chemistry and Maths and 3 As in German, Physics and Polish and will be off to read Natural Sciences at Durham.

Zuzanna H received an A* in Economics and 3 As in Polish, German and Maths and will be studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at university in London.

Lucy A, from Gillingham, achieved 2 A grades in Drama and English and a B in Biology and will be studying Midwifery at Cardiff.

Headmistress, Nicky Botterill said: “We are delighted for all our Upper Sixth, huge amounts of hard work and determination from both girls and our dedicated staff go into achieving such impressive results. As an academically non-selective school I am thrilled for the girls, and some have achieved significant personal triumphs. Alongside their A Level results girls obtain an array of extra qualifications here such as the English Speaking Board qualification, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Extended Project Qualification. This means they leave us extremely well prepared for their exciting futures; the power of an all-girls education cannot be underestimated.”
