Hard work pays off for Downe House girls in their A Level results

20 August 2019

These results show a consistently high level of performance across the yeargroup – 61% of all grades achieved were A to A** (or equivalent)and a remarkable 42% of the year group achieved 3 A to A** (or equivalent) grades, significantly above the national average of 25.5% as reported by Ofqual. There were several notable individual performances which form part of the impressive 12% of 4 A to A** (or equivalent) grades – and one pupil achieved 5 A to A** (or equivalent) grades.

Headmistress, Emma McKendrick commented: “The girls have all worked extremely hard and thoroughly deserve these outstanding results; I am proud of each one of them. It is always a pleasure to see how girls work together with their teachers, tutors and housestaff – each of whom supports the girls along their path to realise their full potential. I would like to extend many thanks to Downe House staff who go to great lengths to see the girls succeed. All of this, combined with wonderful support from home too, ensure our girls have what they need to achieve their potential. They are remarkable young women who have not only achieved a great deal but have done so in a manner which reflects great compassion and care for others and underlies their undoubted ambition. This year group is wonderful example of the importance of friendships which will last a lifetime, and I wish the girls the very best as they leave Downe House and begin the next, exciting stage of their education.”
