Queen’s girls celebrate top GCSE results

An outstanding 45% of the exams taken by the girls have been passed at this phenomenal level (9, 8 or A*) with 12% of the girls achieving all their grades at this level.

Well over half (62%) of the grades were at the equally impressive 9, 8, 7 (A*, A) grade making it another incredible year of results for the school. Almost 80% of grades were 9, 8, 7, 6 (A*- B), with over three quarters of the girls achieving grades on or above their target.

The hard work of the girls has certainly paid off and congratulations to all of them who have showed true determination to achieve the best results they can. A particular mention to the following girls who each achieved outstanding individual results:

Aimee-Katie Adey (8×9, 1×8, 1×7), Madeleine Andrews (9×9, 1×7), Alexandra Audas (3×9, 6×8, 1×7), Saskia Ball (9×9, 1×8), Annabel Boyne (8×9, 2×8), Anne Capewell (6×9, 4×8), Grace Dixon (8×9, 1×8, 1×7), Caroline Holland (4×9, 3×8, 3×7), Abigail Jennings (6×9, 4×8), Maryam Khan (7×9, 2×8, 1×7), Bethany Norton (7×9, 1xA*,1×8, 1×7), Imogen Owen (5×9, 4×8), Freya Rains (3×9, 7×8), Ellie Runacus (4×9, 4×8, 2×7) and Mia Taylor (8×9, 2×8).

The superb results are in addition to many of the girls taking part in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as competing at national and international level in sport and music, achieving Duke of Edinburgh Awards and developing political and public speaking skills in Youth Parliament and MUN.

Headmistress Mrs Sue Wallace-Woodroffe said: “I am delighted to see so many smiling faces today as girls celebrate their results. These results are a testament to the hard work of the girls as well as the undoubtable added value from the superb teachers we have here at The Queen’s School. Staff have worked tirelessly alongside the girls to ensure they reach or exceed their target grades, focussing on the individual to ensure they achieve their full potential. The hard work has certainly paid off with us seeing not only an increase in the number of top grades achieved, but also well over half of the girls exceeding their target by at least one grade.”
