Marist Pupils Capture Award-Winning Photographs

18 September 2019

Young photographers from The Marist School, Sunninghill, have achieved photography success in the Rotary Young Photographer of the Year 2019 competition.

This year’s theme was ‘The Beauty of Nature’ and in the local Ascot round of the competition, Year 10 student Danella was awarded winner of the Intermediate category whilst Year 13 student Alex scooped the top award in the Senior category. Both students then went on to win at the District level with their portfolios entered into the National Finals.

As well as winning the top prizes, Marist pupils celebrated further success by winning the remaining prizes in the Intermediate and Senior categories – a first for the school. Nuria (Year 8) achieved 2nd place in the Intermediate category (local Ascot round) and Madeline (Year 8) placed 3rd in the Intermediate category. In the Senior category, Caitlin (Year 13) was awarded 2nd place and Amalia (Year 11) received 3rd place.

Mrs Tania Bennett, Head of Photography at The Marist School said:

“Hot on the heels of our 100% A*-A and 100% 9-6 grades in this year’s A Level and GCSE results in Photography, we are delighted to celebrate the success achieved in this year’s Young Photographer of the Year competition. It is fantastic to see our students’ creative talents recognised on a local, regional and national level and a special congratulations must go to Danella and Alex on reaching the National Finals.”
