A talented skater has been selected for the Great Britain Development Squad.
Fifteen-year-old Maeve Barratt, a pupil at Monmouth School for Girls, sealed her place after an outstanding display at the British Ice Dance Championships in July.
Maeve, who finished 10th in the championships, gets up at 4am to train in Cardiff four mornings a week and even during the holidays.
Gaining selection for Great Britain is huge achievement for Maeve and has involved many hours of work, lots of sacrifices and hundreds of falls on the ice.
Maeve competed all over the UK during the season and travelled thousands of miles to qualify for the championships.
When she is not training on the ice, the Year 11 pupil has ballet and dance classes and works on strength and flexibility.
