SUCCESS IN ROTARY ‘YOUTH SPEAKS’ COMPETITION
The Royal School debaters have been out in full force over the past couple of weeks. Thursday 14 November saw two teams compete in the annual Youth Speaks competition hosted by the Rotary Club.
The Royal School B team made up of Peter (Year 7) and Phoebe and Sarina (Year 8) debated the motion that the school starting age in the UK should be raised to 7, whilst the A team consisting of Henry and Annie (Year 7) and Ruby (Year 8) debated the motion that smoking should be made illegal. Both teams were very impressive and delivered well-structured and passionately argued ideas on quite tricky topics.
The Royal School A team won the competition and will now compete in the District Final next year. A great achievement!
