Pupils from The Chase, Malvern Parish, Great Malvern Primary, Callow End, Parkside Middle School and Malvern St James Girls’ School had a treat last week when author Robin Stevens visited them to talk about Top Marks for Murder, her eighth mystery in the best-selling Murder Most Unladylike series.

Students discovered what makes a great detective before helping create and solve a mystery of their very own with Robin. She also shared the inspiration behind her detective duo, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong and told why she is so fascinated by murder mysteries.

After the talk, all of the pupils were invited to meet Robin and to have their copy of her books signed by the author. Dr Rebecca Jones, Head of Library and Learning Enrichment at MSJ, said “It was so exciting to have such a creative writer visit the school and inspire so many children to see themselves as authors of their own murder mysteries.”

Robin commented on how fitting the location for her talk was, as her books are set at Deepdean, a fictional girls’ boarding school.
