The Marist School Supports Local Foodbank Charity

19 December 2019

In the build-up to the festive season, The Marist School in Sunninghill has donated over £550 plus several crates of food to The Trussell Trust Foodbank in Bracknell.

As part of the school’s annual Christmas Fayre in November, pupils, parents and staff came together to collect monetary and food donations for the local foodbank, which is supported by The Trussell Trust. Founded in 1997, The Trussell Trust support over 1,200 foodbank centres across the UK whilst campaigning for change to end hunger and poverty in the UK.

Last week, Mrs Joanna Parsons, Co-Chair of The Marist Friends Parent Committee, who organised this year’s Christmas Fayre, delivered the donations to the foodbank alongside some of The Marist School’s Year 8 pupils.

Supporting the initiative, Principal of The Marist School, Mrs Joanne Smith, said:

“One of the core foundations of The Marist is helping those less fortunate than ourselves and I am delighted to witness our Marist community come together and demonstrate this by supporting such a worthwhile and local cause. Giving back is something that we instil in our pupils across the school and I hope that our contributions help support families in need this Christmas.”
