Comment on Ofqual announcement regarding public exam grades

6 April 2020

Commenting on Ofqual’s announcement regarding the grading for this year’s GCSE and A Level qualifications, President of the Girls’ Schools Association, Jane Prescott said:

Ofqual has delivered its exam grading arrangements despite extremely difficult circumstances. The reassurance that students who wish to may sit exams at a future date is also welcome.

The Independent Schools Council has issued the following statement:

Ofqual has done the best it can to produce new exam grading arrangements in almost impossible circumstances.

We expect teachers will now be given the support and guidance they need to produce their predicted grades and pupils should be reassured that there will be an exam sitting, hopefully in the Autumn, for those who are not satisfied with their results. We hope that universities will show flexibility to ensure that students who take this option are able to begin their course with a delayed start time.
