The Girls’ Division of Bolton School has donated 60 crates of food to the town’s Urban Outreach campaign. Dave Bagley, its Chief Executive, was thrilled with the donation: ‘I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of people across the town. We always collect from across the Bolton School campus at this time of year and, once again, I am delighted to be taking away so much produce for those that are struggling. In spite of the current situation, people are still finding the time and kindness to make these donations. I can’t thank the pupils and their families enough.’
Mrs Entwistle, the School’s Head of Community Action, said: ‘Once again the girls have made a massive contribution, both in terms of donating the produce but also in organising the collection and handover to Urban Outreach. 300 households will receive food packages which will benefit up to 800 people across the town. I thought Dave summed things up in the video that he produced when he spoke about the Power of One. You only need to do one great thing, which along with other people, can change a town, a city, a country or the world!’
Senior Girls and Junior Girls dropped their tinned and sealed products into crates on their way into school and Y12 students helped load up the Urban Outreach van. The van then went on to Park Road, the Junior Boys’ School to collect more items and a cheque from Beech House, the Infant School.
Mrs Entwistle lead a Senior Girls’ School virtual Harvest assembly which reflected on the importance of helping others and in which pupils read poetry and played music.
