This has been a busy term and and we have been finding ways to enjoy as many festive celebrations as possible in the run up to Christmas. With the postponement of our annual Christmas Market we put the market stalls online in our Christmas Directory so we could continue to help support small and local businesses within the St James Community. We have made robins in our textiles lessons, held a Christmas tree competition for the pupils and a foodbank collection to help those in need in our local community. Our usual fantastic raffle took place, raising money for the schools and the schools’ charities; a Disneyland Paris package was the top prize and others included numerous themed luxury hampers. The Senior Girls’ School’s chosen charity this year is The Dusty Yak Foundation which aims to relieve the poverty, advance the education and protect and preserve the health of orphans and vulnerable children, primarily in Nepal, by means of educational tuition and practical support.
We were delighted to record our Carol Service this year with pupils from St James Preparatory School. The recording was sent to our school community and played in class for pupils. As in previous years when it was an in-person event, it was a joyful celebration, with this year’s service comprising readings by the Heads and beautiful singing and readings from pupils of the Senior Girls’ and Prep Schools, with a Welcome and Blessing from Father Rob Marshall, Chaplain to St James Schools.
We wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and look forward to welcoming back our pupils and staff in 2021.
