This winter the girls at St. Francis’ College, Letchworth Garden City, along with families and College staff, can log their miles for sponsored walks in the hope of covering the distance between our site on Broadway and Magejjo Primary School in Mpigi District, Uganda, one of the schemes supported by the Kanyike Project. The “route” takes us past Bordeaux, Zaragoza and Alicante to Oran in Algeria, across the Sahara Desert, through Niger and Nigeria, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, before hitting Uganda from the west, crossing Lake Wamala, and finally arriving through the Kanyike project areas in the Mpigi District: a distance of 5,768 miles.
If we all walk together, that’s less than twenty miles per student! You can walk, run, cycle, climb, swim, row, wheelbarrow or cartwheel your way to clock up the miles and help us get all the way to the Magejjo School!
Just collect your sponsorship and log the miles with us at www.justgiving.com/team/SFCWinterWalk
A sponsorship of £1 per mile would make a huge difference to the Kanyike project.
We will check progress regularly: there will be prizes for the form that clocks in the most miles by Monday, February 22nd so let’s see how far we can get!
