Marvellous Maths Day at Malvern St James Girls’ School

Marvellous Maths Day at Malvern St James Girls’ School

26 January 2021

Malvern St James Girls’ School is inviting all children aged 4-11 to join its Marvellous Maths Day on Friday 5th February, an event to showcase how useful, creative and fun maths can be.

Various resources designed for each Primary age year group are available at no charge, and can be downloaded at malvernstjames.co.uk/marvellousmaths.

MSJ is also encouraging children to get involved by dressing up with a Maths theme – numbers, symbols or even dice costumes are being made by staff and pupils. The school wants you to join in the fun and share your outfits on Twitter, and there will be a prize for the best dressed. Simply tag @MalvernStJames and use #MarvellousMaths.

Mathematics is all around us, and this is what MSJ will be exploring. Even insects and bugs participate in the wonderful world of mathematics. Spiders design intricate webs, bees build hexagonal honeycomb, snails make their own shells … discover where else we can see the principles of Mathematics at work.

Mrs Olivera Raraty, Headmistress of MSJ, comments, “Mathematics is a core part of our everyday lives and underpins so many subjects as children progress through the school years. Getting to grips with core concepts and seeing Maths as an enjoyable subject with lots of creative avenues, is key to future success. We hope that lots of children will join in Marvellous Maths and make it a day to remember.”
