Pupils organise Monmouth’s Got Talent this year in aid of The Trussell Trust

2 February 2021

A popular annual talent show involving secondary school children in Monmouth will be returning next month – virtually.

Monmouth’s Got Talent (MGT) is a special celebration of music, dance and theatre and will be streamed via YouTube on Friday 26th March.

Organised each year by the senior prefects at the three secondary schools, the winning act in MGT will receive £50 and the two runners-up, £25 each.

Acts from Monmouth School for Boys, Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth Comprehensive School will be taking part, once again, this year.

Loosely based upon the format of a more well-known talent show, MGT is raising money for The Trussell Trust, a network of food banks across the UK.

Last year, an impressive music-and-dance act from Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools triumphed at The Blake Theatre.

The Shadow, which comprised of singers, dancers, a pianist and a cellist, wowed the judges and audience to win MGT 2020.

The organisers are also running a running a ‘design a poster’ competition open to children across the schools in Years 7 to 13.
