Dinosaurs return to Prep School after 65 million years

21 April 2021

This week Portsmouth High School Prep School went back 65 million years to the age of the dinosaurs.

Each year group took part in the ‘Life Long Ago’ workshop which brought the prehistoric era to life. The children spent the morning fossil hunting and had to identify fossils from some of the most iconic dinosaurs learning many interesting facts through the morning. The workshops, run by Education Group, inspired both mathematic and English lessons during the day and certainly sparked the imagination of many pupils.

In the afternoon, pupils had the opportunity to meet a baby Velociraptor and Triceratops and the seven year old Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sophie. They certainly made an impact across the school with both pupils and teachers and made the day a truly dynamic interactive learning experience.

‘These out of the classroom learning experiences truly make the day one to remember and ignite and engage the pupil on many levels’, said Mrs Victoria Fabre de la Grange, Head of Early Years.

‘The children were certainly enthused by real hands-on learning and a topic truly brought to life in a memorable way,’ said Headmaster, Mr Paul Marshallsay.
