What did the Victorians Do for Us?

What did the Victorians Do for Us?

12 May 2021

Year 6 girls at Bolton School enjoyed an exciting day learning all about Victorian inventions. Through several instructive demonstrations run by Balestra School Workshops, pupils enhanced their understanding of this term’s History topic: ‘Victorians and Science STEM learning’. They learnt about the invention of the steam train through role play of the Rainhill trials and they even had their own nail-biting race to power a model train where pupils Tilly and Nico beat the world record time!

In the afternoon, there was more fun and learning as girls dressed up and took photos using a real Victorian camera.

The girls also found out about the history of the Industrial Revolution in our local area, focussing particularly on Manchester and Liverpool.
