Two lacrosse teams at Monmouth School for Girls have triumphed on home soil in the Welsh Lacrosse Rally.

The first team, which was captained by Eliza Cripwell, and the under-15s, which was led by her sister, Zoe Cripwell, were both outstanding.

The first team remained unbeaten throughout the competition until the final game.

Despite a narrow defeat to Westonbirt, the Monmouth girls took the title.

The triumphant under-15 team went undefeated during the day, winning all games and drawing one.

Director of Sport, Mrs Caroline Jones, said: “This double achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of all the players, especially last season when they knew fixtures were never going to take place. Congratulations girls, you deserve this so much; we are so proud of each and everyone of you.”

It was also the girls’ first weekend of full sporting fixtures for 18 months.

The under-12, under-13 and under-14 teams travelled to Prior Park College for hockey fixtures.

The under-12s ran out 6-1 winners, while the under-13s won 4-3. In its first ever 11-a-side game, the under-14s narrowly lost 4-3.
